Storybook Picks
These are a just a few of many books that I love and recommend. Please check back because this book list will be changing!
1. LITTLE PEA
By Amy Krouse Rosenthal. My all-time fave…a pea who has to eat candy every night for dinner. This engaging book teaches about healthy eating using reverse psychology.
2. THE BOOK WITH NO PICTURES
By B.J. NOVAK. A quirky and picture-less book which requires the grown-up reader to have to act silly.
3. LET'S GO FOR A DRIVE
By Mo Willems (Elephant and Piggie Series). I love this series for early readers, and the supportive friendship between an elephant and a pig is hilarious, outrageous and touching.
4. ONE
By Kathryn Otoshi. Best, most concise depiction of bullying and how to deal with it.
5. BARK, GEORGE
By Jules Feiffer. Hilarious George and his mother’s dilemma because he can’t bark. He can meow, quack, snort and moo, and the twist of an ending never fails to get laughs.
6. LEONARDO, THE TERRIBLE MONSTER
By Mo Willems. This monster only wants to be scary…but he just isn’t.
7. THE GIFT OF NOTHING
By Patrick McDonnell. What do you get the dog who has everything? NOTHING! From the creator of The Mutts comic strip, this is a fabulous life lesson.
8. THE DOT
By Peter Reynolds. Make your mark!
9. PETE THE CAT AND HIS GROOVY BUTTONS
By James Dean. Things come and things go. It’s all good!
10. GO AWAY BIG GREEN MONSTER
By Ed Emberley. Take your power back, use your words, and be a monster scare-er-er!

Jill Lerman, Jillybeans, educational play. Jill has worked as an early childhood educator for over ten years, both as a music and gym teacher for infants and toddlers and currently, as a preschool teacher in New York City. If there’s one thing she’s learned as a teacher, it’s that every child is incredibly unique, and that means that her approach to engaging a child can’t be “one size fits all.” She strives to create opportunities that support each child’s individuality and learning style. Her mobile art and sensory-based classes, playdates, and parties make educational activities, easy, accessible, and most importantly, FUN! All activities are designed to follow, support, and facilitate your child’s developmental progress and growth. Instagram: @jillybeansnyc
